Case study: Perrin & Rowe
Upgrading effluent treatment processes for an iconic manufacturing company.
The client:
Perrin and Rowe manufacture high-quality kitchen and bathroom fittings that are exported to over 20 countries worldwide.
The challenge:
All the plating of the parts including chrome, nickel and brass is carried out on site, with the rinse water and spent chemicals are sent to the site effluent treatment plant.
However, the plant was struggling to provide sufficient effluent treatment processes and dewater the sludge.

The solution:
Latham International were initially called to look at the dewatering as they supplied the original filter press.
Having examined the performance of the effluent treatment plant, they recommended that Aqua Advice review the chemistry and control of the plant.
We assessed the effluent treatment processes and identified that the plant required improved dosing, control and new settlement tank.
Based in on our findings, we performed a plant upgrade that included:
- Effluent buffering and dump tanks storage
- chemical dosing with digital dosing pumps
- ORP and pH controllers
- Gas monitoring
- Introduction of metal precipitant
- New lamella settlement tank
- Turbidex filtration
- Final discharge monitoring including solids, pH, conductivity and nickel
- Control panel
- Out of consent recycling
