Case study: IVO Textiles

Aqua Advice swoosh half

Solving a consent to discharge challenge for a London-based textile printing company.

The client

IVO Textiles is an independent, family-owned textile printing company, operating from a 37,000-square-foot facility in West London, near Heathrow Airport.

The challenge

The client had experienced several breaches of their consent to discharge, involving waste ink being present in the wash down waters from their printing facility.

The solution

Aqua Advice conducted several sets of laboratory trials to identify the most suitable wastewater treatment system.

Samples were analysed for contaminants as per site requirements/consent to discharge to ensure proposed solution meets the consent to discharge.

Based on our findings, we designed a new treatment system that includes:

  • Coagulation
  • pH control
  • Flocculation
  • Batch treatment
  • Sludge dewatering with automated filter press
  • Filtrate with TSS & Turbidity monitoring
  • Carbon filtration with sodium hypochlorite dosing and ultraviolet for advanced oxidation

The results

Since installing a JLJ wastewater treatment system, the client is now discharging water legally.

Heavy metals, COD’s and solvents have all reduced, taking them under their set consent limits by their water company.

Furthermore, solids are being dewatered and can be safely disposed of to a recycling centre.
