Case study: Almit Metal Finishing 

The client:

Specialist Coatings and Almit Metal Finishing are part of the Almit Group of Companies. They are anodisers of aluminium and electroplaters. 

The challenge:  

The challenge with this project was to produce a modular system that could be expanded.  

As the process line was in the early stages of design, the effluent plant for the anodising line also had to be designed with limited information. 

The solution:  

Aqua Advice conducted laboratory treatment trials to identify the existing treatment method.  

Samples were then analysed for contaminants as per site requirements/consent to discharge to ensure proposed solution meets the consent to discharge. 

The completed effluent plant combines: 

• Chrome reduction 

• Sulphate removal 

• Heavy metal precipitation 

The facility was expanded to include the effluent from the bespoke electroplating line and water recycling.
